Esterel Technologies Builds Executive Team and Establishes U.S. Headquarters in Silicon Valley

Jean Marc Talbot, CEO of US operations, relocates to Silicon Valley; Linda Prowse Fosler named VP Marketing

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and GUYANCOURT, France (August 26, 2002) - Esterel Technologies, a global provider of design solutions for verification-critical systems, today announced that Jean Marc Talbot, chief operating officer of Esterel Technologies, S.A., and chief executive officer of Esterel Technologies, Inc., has relocated from Paris, France to head U.S. operations here in Silicon Valley. In addition, the company announced that Linda Prowse Fosler has joined the company as vice president of marketing. A new, expanded U.S. headquarters facility in Silicon Valley will enable Esterel Technologies to focus their efforts on the U.S. market, offer greater support to U.S. customers, and enable closer partnerships with leading Silicon Valley EDA and semiconductor companies.

"Esterel Technologies' executable specifications and automatic test and code generation products have been used for decades in avionics for the development of safety critical software," noted Eric Bantegnie, president and CEO of Esterel Technologies. "Today, in partnership with a number of large U.S. users, we are creating an exciting generation of products that will provide these same quality and productivity benefits for the developers of systems-on-a-chip in all semiconductor application areas. Our expansion in the U.S., headed by Jean-Marc Talbot, and the addition of Linda Prowse Fosler as worldwide VP of marketing, are two important steps in our company' s growth and our ability to serve the U.S. market."

Dr. Talbot was previously with Simulog, a French software firm, where for 10 years he specialized in technical computing and simulation. Prior to Simulog, Dr. Talbot was head of the scientific computing department at Schneider Electric in Grenoble, France. He began his career as an R&D engineer at Thomson-CSF in Paris. Dr. Talbot holds a MBA in Management from Ecole Superieure Des Affaires de Grenoble and a PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Paris.

Prowse Fosler was previously vice president of marketing and product operations for IKOS Systems, Inc. (now part of Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq: MENT)) and general manager of the Verification Solutions and New Technologies Group for the Mentor Emulation Division. Her marketing experience includes the successful introduction of the world's leading emulator for SoC design verification, which grew market share from 0 to 35% in four years. She was also a key contributor to IKOS when they doubled revenue in three years, from $35 million to $70 million. Before IKOS, Ms. Prowse Fosler held various positions at Cadence Design Systems, Tandem Corporation and Hewlett Packard.

"We are pleased to have someone of Linda's caliber on board to help establish Esterel Technologies in the U.S. and support us in growing our business worldwide," said Dr. Talbot.
